about

‘Morning Filters In’ is the band’s first single from their debut up coming album ‘Motion & Bloom’ scheduled for release in late 2022. Written about the pains of moving, adjusting and adapting to a foreign land, the song marks a maturity in songwriter Joshua Lau’s lyrics and features the band’s new vocalist Natalie Karl. Sonically, the song teases the album’s new sonic palette, showcasing the band’s deeper level of experimentation and exploration - fusing sound design, modular synthesis and math rock techniques with more traditional indie song forms.

lyrics

Laze around in Sunday blues,
youth is all there is to lose.

Gazing at the ocean sky,
warm breeze in mid July.
Breathe out, breathe in,
breathe out I’m somewhere else

I’m back home in a tiny room,
street lights bright window panes.
Try my best to fall asleep,
try my best to fall asleep.

When morning filters in,
with warmth and all her tones.
All that’s left of me,
is not what I desire.
Waking up to.

Cycle through the day,
dream in fluorescent lights again
awake and self aware.
Feed the slow decay,
sit around and wish I was
outside these four walls.

When morning filters in,
with warmth and all her tones.
All that’s left of me,
is not what I desire.

Gazing at the ocean sky,
warm breeze in mid July.
Breathe out, breathe in,
breathe out I’m somewhere else

I’m back home in a tiny room,
street lights bright window panes.
Try my best to fall asleep,
try my best to fall asleep.
